About Wandering Owls

In this blog we want to share our love for outdoors and travelling, in Scotland and beyond. You will find here the reports from our travels, walks, wanderings, ramblings, day outings, road trips and everything in between. It was born from our love of moving about, exploring and discovering new places and experiences. We hope everyone will find something interesting here, and if someone gets inspired to visit any of the places we describe, it will be a sign that we do a good job. Please comment, share and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. All the photos on this website are a property of Wandering Owls - if you want to use any of them, please contact us first.

I was born in rural area of southwestern Poland, where I grew up surrounded by nature and wildlife. At the ripe age of 15 I moved further afield to educate myself in the fine art of horse breeding. I have relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2006 where I got first hand experience of working in some weird and wonderful places, including biscuits factory and mental institution. Then I met my other half and moved to Glasgow, where I’m currently based. I graduated with a degree in Zoology from University of Glasgow and I’ve been working as a research technician at my alma mater ever since. In addition to doing science, I also enjoy many other activities. I’m a keen birdwatcher and nature enthusiast, a hillwalker, an occasional backpacker and a rather mediocre runner. I’ve volunteered for conservation organisations, the RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust, Froglife and Butterfly Conservation Trust among the others, worked as a field assistant on a couple of projects, went to Amazonian Ecuador for a tropical ecology field course and fooled around with a white blanket collecting ticks for my dissertation. My biggest dream at the moment is getting a PhD and/or travelling the world, either or both would be great. Oh, and I absolutely love food…just sayin’.

Living in Glasgow, Scotland from 2005; originally from a small town in Poland (a little over 50 miles from Gdansk). In 2006 I started my career as a web designer, first as an employee of a Glasgow-based web design company and a couple of years later I began to work of my own. Currently I am quite busy finishing and polishing this website, so more information will come later on ;)
